“First... Then... Finally...”“Increase... Decrease...

比如描述上升,你可以说“rise gradually”“climb sharply”“witness a significant increase”;表对比,能用“By contrast”“In comparison”“On the other hand”。

有个学生写柱状图,全程用“Country A is higher than Country B. Country C is lower than Country A.”,虽然没错,但太单调,语法分直接被压到6分以下。

1. 是什么图表?(线图/柱状图/饼图/表格/流程图/地图?动态图还是静态图?动态图有时间变化,静态图只有一个时间点);

2. 核心对象是谁?(比如“5个城市的人口”“3种能源的消耗量”,注意别漏了“单位”,比如“百分比”“万吨”);

The graph below shows the changes in the amount of renewable energy (solar, wind, hydro) used globally from 2000 to 2020.”

The line graph illustrates how the consumption of three types of renewable energy (solar, wind, and hydro) changed worldwide between 2000 and 2020.”

(替换词:showsillustrates,changes in the amounthow...changed,usedconsumption,globallyworldwide)

按趋势分:一段写“上升趋势的对象”,一段写“下降/稳定趋势的对象”;

按对象分:每个主体段写1-2个核心对象(适合对象少的图表,比如3个以内);

主体段1:写太阳能(增长最快)和风能(稳步上升);

Overall, solar energy saw the most dramatic growth, while hydro energy remained relatively unchanged over the period.”

缓慢变化:“The number of... increased gradually from... to...”(比如:The consumption of wind energy increased gradually from 50 TWh to 150 TWh.)

快速变化:“... witnessed a sharp rise, reaching... in...”(比如:Solar energy witnessed a sharp rise, reaching 300 TWh in 2020.)

波动变化:“... fluctuated between... and... during the period.”(比如:Hydro energy fluctuated between 200 and 220 TWh during the period.)

大小对比:“... was significantly higher than..., with... and... respectively.”(比如:Solar energy consumption was significantly higher than wind energy in 2020, with 300 TWh and 150 TWh respectively.)

倍数对比:“... was twice as much as... in...”(比如:Solar energy in 2020 was twice as much as wind energy.)

相同点对比:“Both... and... showed an upward trend.”(比如:Both solar and wind energy showed an upward trend.)

“... accounted for the largest proportion, at 40%.”(比如:Solar energy accounted for the largest proportion of renewable energy in 2020, at 40%.)

“... made up 30%, followed by... at 25%.”(比如:Wind energy made up 30%, followed by hydro energy at 25%.)

段内用“However, By contrast, Meanwhile”,段间用“On the other hand, In addition”。

The line graph shows the percentage of people aged 65 and over in three countries from 1940 to 2040.(线图:1940-2040年三个国家65岁以上人口占比)

The line graph compares the proportion of elderly people (aged 65 and over) in Japan, Sweden, and the USA between 1940 and 2040.

In 1940, the percentage of elderly people was highest in the USA, at around 9%, followed by Sweden (7%) and Japan (5%). Over the next 50 years, the figure for the USA rose gradually to 15% by 1990, while Sweden saw a slight increase to 14%. By contrast, Japan’s elderly population remained stable at around 5% until the 1990s.

From 1990 onwards, all three countries are expected to witness an upward trend. The USA is projected to reach 23% by 2040, and Sweden is forecast to grow more sharply, reaching approximately 25%. Japan, however, will experience the most dramatic rise: after remaining below 10% until 2020, its elderly population is predicted to surge to 27% by 2040, making it the country with the highest proportion of elderly people.

Overall, while the USA and Sweden have had higher elderly populations in the past, Japan is expected to overtake them by 2040.

句式:用了“rose gradually”“saw a slight increase”“remained stable”描述趋势,“projected to reach”“forecast to grow”“predicted to surge”表达预测,句式多样。

对比:通过“highest”“followed by”“By contrast”“however”突出差异,符合7分“有清晰对比”的要求。

The bar chart shows the number of hours per week spent on unpaid work by men and women in different categories.(柱状图:不同婚姻状况的男性和女性每周 unpaid work 时长)

The bar chart compares the weekly hours of unpaid work done by men and women in three categories: single, married with no children, and married with children.

Overall, women spend more time on unpaid work than men across all categories, and the difference is most significant for married people with children.

Single men and women have the least unpaid work hours, with men spending around 15 hours per week and women approximately 20 hours. For married people without children, the gap widens slightly: men’s hours remain similar (16 hours), while women’s increase to 30 hours.

The largest difference is seen in married people with children. Here, men’s unpaid work hours rise marginally to 18 hours, but women’s hours jump to 50 hours per week—more than double the time spent by men in the same category.

In summary, marriage and having children have a greater impact on women’s unpaid work hours compared to men.

对比词:用“more than”“the difference is most significant”“the gap widens”“more than double”突出对比,逻辑清晰。

The pie charts show the percentage of water used for different purposes in six areas of the world.(饼图:世界六个地区的用水比例,用途分“农业、工业、家庭”)

The six pie charts compare the proportion of water consumed for agricultural, industrial, and domestic purposes in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia.

Agriculture is the main water user in most regions. In Africa, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia, it accounts for over 80% of total water use (85%, 88%, and 81% respectively). South America also uses the majority of water for agriculture (71%), while Europe and North America have lower agricultural water use, at 32% and 39%.

Industrial use is highest in Europe and North America, making up 53% and 48% of their water consumption. This is significantly higher than in other regions: South America uses 19% for industry, and the remaining areas (Africa, Central Asia, Southeast Asia) use less than 10%.

Domestic water use is the smallest category overall, ranging from 7% in Central Asia to 19% in South America.

In conclusion, agricultural water use dominates in developing regions, while industrial use is more prominent in developed areas.

占比表达:用“accounts for”“making up”“ranging from... to...”

The table shows the percentage of young people who were unemployed in five European countries in 2005, 2010, and 2015.(表格:五个欧洲国家2005/2010/2015年年轻人失业率)

The table presents the unemployment rates of young people (aged 15-24) in five European countries (Spain, Italy, France, Germany, and the UK) in three years: 2005, 2010, and 2015.

Overall, Spain and Italy had the highest unemployment rates throughout the period, while Germany and the UK had the lowest. Most countries saw an increase in youth unemployment between 2005 and 2010, followed by a slight decrease in 2015.

In 2005, Spain had the highest rate at 22%, followed by Italy (18%), France (15%), the UK (12%), and Germany (10%). By 2010, unemployment rose in all countries except Germany: Spain’s rate jumped to 42%, Italy’s to 28%, France’s to 21%, and the UK’s to 20%. Germany, however, saw a small drop to 9%.

By 2015, most countries experienced a decline. Spain’s rate fell to 35%, Italy’s to 25%, France’s to 20%, and the UK’s to 17%. Germany’s rate remained stable at around 9%, making it the country with the lowest youth unemployment in 2015.

连接词:用“Overall”“followed by”“By... however”“By... making it”串联句子,逻辑连贯。

The diagram shows the process of making glass bottles.(流程图:玻璃瓶制作过程)

The diagram illustrates the seven-step process of manufacturing glass bottles.

The process begins with the collection of raw materials, which are sand, soda ash, limestone, and recycled glass. These materials are mixed together and heated in a furnace at a high temperature of 1500C until they melt into liquid glass.

Next, the liquid glass is poured into a mould. The mould is shaped like a bottle, but with a longer neck. Air is then blown into the mould, which forces the liquid glass to take the shape of the mould. At this stage, the bottle is still soft and needs to be cooled in a cooling chamber for several hours.

After cooling, the bottle is inspected for defects. If it passes the inspection, it is packaged and ready for distribution. If not, it is recycled and the process starts again.

Overall, the process involves mixing raw materials, melting, shaping, cooling, inspecting, and packaging, with recycled glass playing a role in the initial stage.

时态:用一般现在时(流程图常用时态),被动语态(“are mixed”“is poured”“is blown”),符合客观描述要求。

顺序词:用“The process begins with”“Next”“Then”“After cooling”“Finally”清晰展示步骤,逻辑连贯。

The maps show the changes in a small town called Brindell between 1980 and 2010.(地图:小镇Brindell 1980年和2010年的变化)

The two maps compare the layout of the small town of Brindell in 1980 and 2010.

In 1980, Brindell was a rural town with a few key features. There was a river running from north to south through the town, with a bridge connecting the east and west banks. On the west bank, there was a farm in the north and a forest in the south. On the east bank, the town centre was located in the middle, with a school to the north and a small park to the south.

By 2010, Brindell had undergone significant urbanization. The farm on the west bank had been replaced by a shopping mall, and the forest had been cleared to make way for a housing estate. On the east bank, the school had been expanded and a car park added next to it. The park had been converted into a sports centre with a swimming pool. The town centre remained in the same location, but a new railway line had been built to the east of the town, with a station near the town centre.

Overall, the town became more urbanized over the period, with agricultural and natural areas replaced by residential and commercial facilities.

方位词:用“north to south”“west bank”“east bank”“north”“south”“next to”“near”清晰描述位置,避免混乱。

变化描述:用“had been replaced by”“had been cleared to make way for”“had been converted into”“had been built”准确表达“拆除”“新建”“改造”,符合地图题要求。

反例:“The increase in solar energy use is great because it helps reduce pollution.”(正确:“Solar energy use increased significantly over the period.”)

反例:“The number of students rose from 123 to 256.”(写成“rose from 100 to 200”,直接被考官标“数据不准确”)

正式写作中,can’tcannot,it’sit is,don’tdo not。

反例:“It’s clear that the trend is increasing.”(正确:“It is clear that the trend is increasing.”)

反例:“In 2010, the population increases to 5 million.”(正确:“In 2010, the population increased to 5 million.”)
